Kim Power Stilson Show - Week of March 2, 2015

Tune in to the Kim Power Stilson Show this week to hear the following really cool humans who will share their stories, strategies, and solutions! 

March 6: 

Guitar professional and singer, Ryan Hiller is a guest today. Artists he has played with include The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, John Scofield, and Styx. He will share some tracks from his CD, “Ryan Hiller: How It Works.” 

Wendy Parmley, author of “Hope after Suicide,” recounts her experience of opening up her heart years after her mother’s suicide. She will talk about forgiving yourself and others, seeking help when you need it, and drawing closer to the divine.

We’re interviewing some very cool humans this week who have great solutions that they have shared with the world and will share with us!  

Mon., Feb 23: 

“The Power of Cinema Therapy.” The Oscars were last weekend. So, we’re excited to welcome psychotherapist, Lisa Bahar who will talk about the power of the Cinema and how movies create a therapeutic healing experience.  

Kim also talks to Chris Field, who has accomplished much in his 32 years of life including running for mayor of his hometown at age 19, participating in four different Guinness World Records, and currently, a Director of Mercy Project, an organization he founded, that is dedicated to helping child slaves become free.  

Wed., Feb 25: 

“Bounce back in the face of struggle, challenge and tremendous odds.” Dr. Jennifer Bahr, MD, talks about the program she has developed that helps others to cultivate mental and physical resilience. 

“Yoga for Kids.” The show today also features Teresa Anne Power, a yoga practitioner who is a leading authority on children’s yoga and author of “The ABCs of Yoga for Kids.”

Fri., Feb 27: 

Kim welcomes Anthony Bright, Founder and CEO of Braxington Technologies, a company with a single goal: providing products and services that combat assaults – both verbal and physical. 

“The Coming Woman.” Today Kim talks to Karen Hicks, who is the author of a book that is based on the life of feminist Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for U. S. President. Karen will talk about this amazing woman who had the courage to enter the political arena before women had won the battle to vote. 

“Chicken Soup for the Soul.” Amy Newmark, publisher, editor-in-chief and co-author of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book series, joins the show to talk about the new book in the “CSFTS” series, “Hope and Miracles.” 

“Gentleman Tips.” Listen to Trapper Broderick, founder and CEO of True Gentleman, a company the custom makes suits for men. He will offer a gentleman tip of the day: “How to Start Building Your Wardrobe for the Business Professional.”

Janice Holly Booth, representing an Adventurista outlook (commitment to the adventurers and travelers lifestyle), will give advice, based on her own personal experiences, that will help listeners to get out of their ruts by becoming a little braver, a little bolder, and a lot more resilient in their lives.

Mon., Feb 9

“Making Healthy Food More Convenient Than Junk Food.” Kim welcomes Sean Kelly, Nutrition Activist and Social Entrepreneur, who is the Co-founder of H.U.M.A.N., a company that uses healthy vending machines, self-checkout convenience stores, and direct delivery services to bring healthier foods to the public.

Seth Bybee, who we affectionately call the “Bug Man,” is also on the show today. He’s an assistant professor of biology at Brigham Young University and specializes in visual systems of Insects. 

Wed., Feb 11 

“Daring to Date Again.” Ann Anderson Evans talks about her experience of re-entering the dating scene after two careers, two children and a divorce. 

Fri., Feb 13

Valentine’s Day, Chicken Soup for the Soul and fashion tips are all featured on the show today.

Pamela McMurtry, “Holiday Diva” will share Valentine’s Day ideas. 

Amy Newmark, publisher, editor-in-chief and co-author of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book series, joins the show. 

Then, Trapper Broderick, founder and CEO of True Gentleman, a men’s dress and lifestyle company that offers custom fit, look, and style, will offer fashion tips.   

Changes Coming to BYU Radio

We have some exciting changes coming up here at BYU Radio!

Beginning Monday, February 9th, we’ll have some slight alterations to our schedule as the Matt Townsend Show moves to mornings with an expanded broadcast time – Monday through Friday, 9-Noon ET/ 7-10am MT.

Also starting Monday, we debut a brand new daily show: “Top of Mind, with Julie Rose” – a current events and interview program that airs Monday through Friday, 5-7pm ET/3-5pm MT. Social, cultural and scientific topics will be featured each show with a  constant focus on “How can this knowledge improve our understanding of the world?”

Here is what the basic daily (Monday through Saturday) line-up for programming on BYU Radio will be starting February 9th:
